We're back! Monday 13th October with Brendon Burns, Gary Delaney and more!

New venue! New time!

As you may have read our venue, LAMP has closed down, and our long term future is currently unsure, but in the meantime, in conjunction with Leamington Comedy Festival, for one week only we are running Reckless Comedy at the Leamington Spa Centre in the studio! Yes, we’re in a theatre. How ridiculous.

It’ll still be the same sort of show, acts trying out bits and pieces, but with comfier seats, don’t miss it, ’cause right now we don’t know when the next one will be, or if there will ever be another one at all!

Note that we start at 8pm (sharp!) – tickets here or Spa Centre box office on the night.

Brendon Burns
Australian Brendon Burns has been performing comedy since the early Nineties and is known for his aggressive stage presence and controversial material.

He briefly hosted the 11 O’Clock Show and even more briefly the ITV2 spin-off show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Now!, walking off after just three shows.

“Simply a legend in the making…sparkling stuff” – The Guardian

Gary Delaney
Master of the one-liner, you may have seen him recently on Mock The Week.

“Expect a cavalcade of brilliantly inventive puns from this master of the one-liner, a craftsman to be ranked along with likes of Tim Vine and Milton Jones”
– The Guardian

Plus Wizzy Janew, Paul Savage, Jay Handley and more!

Reckless Comedy featuring Birthday Girls and The Energy and The Apathy

MONDAY JULY 21ST
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm
Entry £3
LAMP, Leamington Spa

Reckless Comedy brings you two work-in-progress shows from two brilliant acts.

Birthday Girls: Party Vibes
Brand new sketch comedy from the critically acclaimed Birthday Girls. Meet Beattie (hamster owner), Rose (timekeeping enthusiast) and Camille (always late, allergic to hamsters) as they bring you odd characters, offbeat sketches, try hard dancing and the best and most rewarding time of your life. Directed by Tom Parry (Pappy’s, BBC3’s Badults).
‘Exuberantly silly, consistently imaginative and delightfully playful’ (Guardian).
‘One of the best shows of its kind’ (BroadwayBaby.com).

Birthday Girls are former members of sketch group Lady Garden, ‘Britain’s funniest women’ (Telegraph), who featured on BBC3’s Live At The Electric and BBC Radio 4’s Sketchorama.

Roger Swift and Patrick Draper – The Energy and the Apathy
Two unique rising stars present their vastly differing stand-up styles to unsuspecting audiences. Patrick has won numerous gongs and accolades for his low energy deadpan wit. Layers of stories and one-liners interweave to deliver a very funny slice of the life of an idiot. Delivered absolutely bone dry. Roger is an unstoppable force of mirth and a legend on the West Midlands comedy circuit. Buckle in and prepare yourself for something very different as he delivers wave after wave of hilarious puns and visual gags.

Reckless Comedy with Andrew O'Neill and Andrew Bird

Reckless Comedy brings you two more work in progress shows!

MONDAY JULY 14TH
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm
Entry £4
LAMP, Leamington Spa

Tickets: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/274945

Andrew O’Neill – Mindspiders
Andrew O’Neill (Buzzcocks, Museum Of Curiosity, Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle) returns with his most inventive, surreal stand-up show yet.
‘Comedic brilliance’ (Time Out). ‘Absolutely hilarious’ (Neil Gaiman). ‘He’s got a natural optimism and love of silliness that leaves you feeling remarkably positive… The very definition of alternative’ (Guardian).

Andrew Bird – Up Against It
Andrew got married, bought a house and had two children during the worst recession since the 1920s. At last, he has earned the right to moan about things. He’s a man who doesn’t see being tight with money as a bad thing, but rather a skill. For so long he’s tried to be positive and easy-going, but no more. Andrew now feels justified in being negative and stressed out about everything.
‘Comedy gold … going to be a star’ (Scotsman). ‘A great story teller … funny, likeable and effortless’ (Time Out).

Reckless Comedy with Brendon Burns and Sarah Bennetto

This bank holiday Monday!

MONDAY MAY 26TH
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm
Entry £3
LAMP, Leamington Spa

Reckless Comedy brings you two work-in-progress shows from two brilliant acts.

Brendon Burns: The Brendon Burns Show
This is not your everyday comic. Older, wiser, calmer (And after being fitted with a hearing aid, infinitely quieter) Brendon’s energy is still enticing. His turn of phrase is coarse yet oddly eloquent, whilst remaining fully accessible and intensely loveable. Never pompous and ever self-deprecating he just somehow seems to get away with murder. Not so much an ‘edgy truth-sayer’ but a traditionally harmless and inclusive warm-hearted court jester. His influence is ubiquitous throughout the stand-up world. Often replicated but never matched, his shows aren’t just extended sets, Burns specialises in creating experiences: forever experimenting with the form and throwing himself new challenges.

And now Brendon is branching out on his own, with The Brendon Burns Show, Brendon is looking to write and produce his own online web series: a mix of stand up, sketches and viral videos. Taped during the Edinburgh festival, 10-15 minute episodes to be written directed and produced three to four times a week and once a week thereafter. From the Joe Rogan podcast to Funny or Die, the US has shown us that the future of comedy content is online. See him try out ideas for the show in this preview!

“The single most jaw-dropping, awkward, yet ultimately rewarding bit of stand up we have ever seen” ****** (An unprecedented six out of six) Time Out, London

Sarah Bennetto’s Funeral
Stop all the clocks. You are cordially invited to celebrate the life of Sarah Bennetto, buffoon. Tonight’s Order of Service will include: heartfelt readings, tear-stained eulogies, extended keytar solos and scintillating marketing pitches. Flowers not necessary; impassioned wailing optional. Stay strong. It’s what she would have wanted.

A comedy show, and proof positive that if you want something done right, you’d better do it yourself.

“Superb. Devastating. Edges towards perfection.” **** Three Weeks
“Effervescent, confident, well-structured stand-up.” **** The Age Melbourne
“A storyteller par excellence” – Time Out
