Reckless Comedy May 14th with Lloyd Langford and Andrew Bird

MONDAY MAY 14TH

Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm

Entry £3, Season Ticket £10

Robbins’ Well, Leamington Spa

LLOYD LANGFORD: One Day In The Life of Lloyd Owen Langford

A sort of picaresque shaggy dog story. Will contain jokes about bread and circumcision. Expect a potent brew of gags, stories, riffs and accents. Only joking, he just does the one accent.

You may have seen Lloyd on Ask Rhod Gilbert (BBC1) or heard him on Wordaholics (BBC Radio 4).

Praise for his 2011 show: ‘A smart and properly funny observational comic’ (Guardian) ‘An experience that seems likely to prove one of my highlights of the Fringe’ (Chortle)

ANDREW BIRD

The fantastic Andrew Bird brings his third solo show to Leamington.

“Effortlessly engaging and funny as hell” Rhod Gilbert

“Beautifully observed and insightful…not only an entertaining story but a very funny hour of fine stand-up.” Chortle

NEW START TIME

Our shows this season will feature two hour-long previews each night, with an interval. As such, we’ll be starting at 8.30pm, with doors at 8pm. This way we’ll still be done by 11pm so you can get home at a sensible time.

NEW PRICE

We have some really fantastic line-ups and slightly longer shows, as such we’ve put the door price up slightly to £3. This is our first price rise in four years, and is still around the price of a pint, so we hope you don’t mind too much! As a thank you to our loyal regulars, the price of a season ticket (a pass to all nine shows from April-June) will remain the same at just £10.

MONDAY MAY 7th
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm
Entry £3, Season Ticket £10
Robbins’ Well, Leamington Spa

SALLY-ANNE HAYWARD: The Inbetweeny Lady
When can I eat sweets forever? Why ruin a cake by cooking it? Why pick the holiday over the car as a prize on a game show? Why not choose the car, sell it and buy sweets?

Just some of the questions award-winning comedian Sally-Anne Hayward was plagued with as a child. Other subjects she is knowledgeable about are lucky dips, blood tests and people who use Twitter to arrange social gatherings … loudly.

**** (Skinny)
**** (ThreeWeeks)
‘Exceptionally funny’ (Independent)
‘Warm and very funny’ (Sarah Millican)

JULIET MEYERS: Raised By Fridge Magnets
Like her favourite flour, Juliet is self-raised, but has she equipped herself for life’s dramas? In this show about received wisdom, Juliet takes us on a journey of optimism, pessimism, repressed anger and occasional joy as she discusses dysfunctional parents, being an outsider, redundancy, faux spirituality, winking at dogs and loathing fridge magnets.

Juliet has written for The Sarah Millican Television Programme, 8/10 Cats and Radio 4’s News Quiz.

‘Devilish … jokes out of nowhere’ (Scotsman ).
‘A laugh-out-loud funny show that resonates’ **** (Chortle.co.uk).
‘Smart and very funny’ (Sarah Millican).

CAIMH McDONNELL: THE ART OF CONVERSATION
Join Irish comedian Caimh (Bafta nominee and writer on Sarah Millican Television Programme) on a whistle-stop tour of his own social ineptitudes. If small talk is your kryptonite, then this is the show for you! An hour of stand-up comedy about people and how they’re really not worth the effort. Caimh was never a big fan of humanity and that was before they started throwing up on his doorstep.

‘Outstanding’ (Telegraph), ‘McDonnell’s warm, inclusive delivery naturally charms the audience’ (Chortle), ‘Superb’ (Manchester Evening News)

DANNY McLOUGHLIN
After supporting the likes of Micky Flanagan, Sean Lock & Justin Moorhouse on tour in the last year Danny’s stock is rising. Join one of the best of the new crop of acts breaking through for a debut hour of stand up and see why he’s widely tipped as a name to look out for.

“McLoughlin’s main weapon is his audacity: he’s so bold he can recite an advertising jingle and still get plenty of laughs”- Chortle
