Reckless Comedy presents: Simon Munnery and Edward Aczel @ The Venew

Reckless Comedy is hugely excited to announce a very special show featuring the legendary Simon Munnery and Edward Aczel.

They’ll both be visiting The Venew in Leamington Spa to preview some material from their forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe shows. It’s a rare chance to see these new shows in their conceptual stages, and for a ridiculously cheap price (£4 advance, £5 on the door).

WEDNESDAY JUNE 29th
The Venew, Rugby Road, Leamington Spa
Doors 8pm, Show 8.30pm
Tickets £4 advance BUY HERE

The UK’s foremost Simon Munnery impersonator, SIMON MUNNERY, and
“Britain’s greatest entertainer” (Time Out) EDWARD ACZEL, invite you
to an evening of new material and tired ideas.

“One of the most original and inventive comics in the country”
(The Observer, on Simon Munnery)

“Aczel turns unprofessionalism into an artform”
(The Times, on Edward Aczel)

SIMON MUNNERY: HATS OFF TO THE 101ERS, AND OTHER MATERIAL

Ambitious or foolhardy? A one-man musical about the R101 airship of
1930. Plus poems, jokes, aphorisms, anecdotes and monologues,
performed with a plum. Or some other fruit.

“There are more brilliant ideas in one of Munnery’s shows than most comics manage in a
lifetime” (The Times).

EDWARD ACZEL DOESN’T EXIST

“Britain’s greatest living anti-comedian” (The Guardian) presents an
hour of moderately amusing stand-up comedy in order to gain some
meaningful TV exposure (touch wood). Aczel is planning on improvising
a bit this year (with varying levels of success).

“It is impossible to explain, but can reduce a room to hysterics….. His set is unlike anything you have ever seen….” (Chortle)

MONDAY 20TH JUNE
ROBBINS WELL, LEAMINGTON SPA

…Entry just £2

JULIET MEYERS: I’M NOT SPARTACUS

Juliet is passionate about big things (evil b*st*rds) and little things (disappointing magicians). She can stand up and be funny, but can she stand up and be counted like Spartacus and friends? (No knowledge of the film or gladiators required!) Expect moments of silliness, audience voting and petty rebellion. There are even stories about reluctantly hosting a strip club and trying to save the world but accidentally breaking it.

‘Exceptionally funny’ (Independent)
‘Devilish on the edge’ (Scotsman)
‘An amazing talent’ (BBC 5 Live)
‘Wonderfully bizarre ideas… laugh-out-loud funny’ (Chortle.co.uk)

ASHLEY FRIEZE: THE SEVEN DEADLY SINGS (REMASTERED)

In a fast-paced, informative, hilarious hour this heavyweight musical comedian will prove to you that there are only seven songs in the world. Discover Elton John’s failed stand-up career, how to neutralise a rap and be dazzled by Beethoven’s inability to write a love song. Bring your favourite songs along to find out they’re probably just a remake of I Should Be So Lucky. This popular show returns for a second year on the Fringe with new material and the same seven songs. Greatest hits CDs be damned!

‘Brilliant, quick-fire lyrics’ (Three Weeks).

In this funny and heart-warming show Steve tells of his struggle to complete the course, and his battles against obstacles far greater than the distance to be run. Tom Binns is Ian D. Montfort: Spirit Medium

“Ian D Montford, a gloriously deadpan pseudo-psychic. His show – Touching the Dead begins with laughable attempts to work the audience and and then Binns starts unleashing faintly inexplicable clairvoyant revelations, leaving most of the room gasping with incredulity. So he can spoof it, and really ‘do it’”.
TELEGRAPH ★★★★★

“Ian D Montfort, is a spookily skilful, wonderfully observed and hysterically funny character who contacts dead celebrities with incredible results. A monster hit at the Edinburgh Fringe”
TIME OUT LONDON ★★★★★

“Binns makes a triumphant return as the Sunderland psychic Ian D Montfort, mixing eerily good cold-reading skills with a joyful debunking of the genre”
INDEPENDENT ★★★★

“e style of the act is genius –if it works, it’s impressive, if it doesn’t work, well it’s all part of the joke”
CHORTLE ★★★★
